FSM injector Removal and Compression Test

I have a Super Major that has been running rough and trying to identify a misfire. It always starts good. Runs and drives decent, just has kind've a pop noise as it runs. The noise seems fairly consistent.
Im thinking about pulling the injectors to see if one is damaged or dirty. Soaking and cleaning all of them. While they are out Im also thinking I should do a compression test.
Anyone know how hard it is to pull the injectors? What tools I may need?
How to do a compression test? Tools for that?

Any other ideas before I start that may help identify a misfire?

Thanks so much.

email me back please with your thoughts or ideas. Ty

ivor from uk here I know that the coupling which drives the injector pump is prone to wear on the major which affects timing

You can get the injectors out with a small pry-bar and a 15/16th spanner, (could be 1", its been a long time since I did it). Put the spanner on the injector and just wriggle from side to side as you put pressure on the pry-bar under a mounting lug.

Having been involved with servicing injectors on these tractors, it is not something I would do myself without the proper tools. They need brass cleaning brushes to avoid scratching the delicate parts and you need a special tool to pressure test them and set them correctly. You are best to get them done by a specialist diesel shop.

Popping noise is more likely valve clearance or sticking valve. Could even be a bent pushrod.

Can anyone tell me how I can check the valve adjustment on this head. While I have the cover off, I would like to check it.
What is the proper position when taking a measurement?
And what should the measurement be?

Thanks

Push rods look good.
I checked the valve lash and everything is real close.
I had checked the timing earlier. So I'm back to injectors again.
Unless it is a stuck plunger in the pump.

I will be getting back to this tractor project.

Push rods seem fine.
valve clearance is all ok.
It starts easily and runs fairly well. But it does have this misfire. Seems like it may be blowing fuel out the exhaust.

Before I pull the injectors....is there anything else I can check?
???
How can I verify that the pump is working properly on all 4 lines?
Is there anyway to test line pressure while on the tractor?
Thanks
