Worn lifters model f

Was at the engine shop today and they had discovered that the lifters were beat so bad by valve there was about a .12 deep wear from the
valves. They were wondering how to set the gap? You Can't.
What do you do to get lifters ?
Are there adjustable lifters available ?

It seems like you may have worn thru the hard surface. Must have had dirty oil. Maybe you could find a hard
cap to slip over it. At this point, it wouldn't hurt to grind the top flat. I wonder how bad the surface
touching the camshaft lobe has been worn?

In the normal course of things, the valve and valve seat would wear, and the tappet
clearance might actually get smaller. You'd fix this by grinding off some material from
the end of the valve stem. In the event that you need to have less gap, one of the ways
was to carefully peen the valve stem to lengthen it.

New valves and guides are available. I didn't see anything for the lifters. Maybe there is no
call for them. They would be pretty simple to manufacture. Must be many used ones available.

I wouldn't know how to find a substitute. Perhaps other old tractors came close, like the old Allis U.
Except for Ford, overhead valves came along pretty quickly.

Dan Zilm, I know he has left us, had some adjustable lifters that were a very good replacement. No idea what they were out of. The only problem with them was you had to crank the engine over until the valve was lifted to adjust and the crank it some more to let the valve back down to check the adjustment because the bottom nut was just low enough in the bore that you could not get a wrench on it.
Thanks
