Doesn't feel like spring just yet - engine heaters

Hi,
64 FMD diesel runs great but starting on a cold morning is hard. Has any one installed a manifold heater like this one I saw on ebay:

I assume glow plugs would go in the cylinder head, are there places (threaded holes) to install them?

Thank You

Many years ago, i drove one of those tiny rench cars, with a little four cylinder engine. In our winters, which get downright cold here, in PA., the starter didn't have enough punch to turn the crankshaft in the cold thickened oil, so i installed a dip-stick heater! I left it in the tube all winter, after checking where the full mark should go. It would start up just like a summer day after that!
I would think one of the heaters that fit in the sand casting holes in the side of the block would work ok, too. Although, the oil might still be too stiff in the morning when you needed to start it up.

Thanks for the suggesitons. I will work on getting a heater of some type before I put on the new radiator hoses I just got.

By the way, my initial post should have said:
