Greetings YT'ers: Still confused on my Ford 3000 C gas wiring. Question 1. The back of the new panel appears to be the opposite of the old and some connectors are different. Did I get the wrong part (YT)? Question 2. The preexisting wiring (green) on the new panel is different than the old? Question 3. I have a green wire with a black stripe coming from the gas tank. Where does this attach? Question 4- 5 -6 I have a solid black, a solid white and a solid green wire coming from the tractor wiring harness. Any idea where these attach? These appear to be original wires but I wouldn't bet on it. Thanks for your help. Gary

JMOR and HACKE: Thanks for your help on my long running wiring problem for the instrument cluster. With your advice and pictures I got it installed today and it works perfect. Thanks again. Now on to some hydraulic problems. Gary

First, you need to take it inside, open it and let it dry. There are four screws at the back of the case assembly.

This is what I did when I refurbished a cluster:

Disassembled the bezel assembly and put sealant between the glass and the bezel frame.

The cluster face (the tin plate) is what holds the glass against the frame. Apart from a gasket between the glass and the frame, there is a thin gasket between the glass and cluster face. The latter is there so the face is not rubbing against the glass.

The front gasket was useless, so it was better to omit that and only use a good sealant, same thickness as the gasket. Pushed the glass carefully in place, and cut away the overflow after hardening.

Put the inner gasket in place, pushed the face against it and secured it. I think I put silicon sealant around the edge of the face.

Anyhow, things will be obvious as soon as you have the cluster apart.

Check Break: I took apart the instrument cluster as you suggested and found the edge of the case assembly had a very jagged edge keeping the gasket from seating. I spent about a minute filing that down, added a very small bead of silicon seal around the edge and it seated perfectly. Time will tell if that was the problem. I'm betting it was. Thanks for your help and diagram. Gary

Send it back. That failure is related to low quality manufacture.

Check Break: Too late for that. I've sat on this project for over a year now. Guess I'll try some gasket seal. Thanks for your reply. Gary

Mr. Hacke and JMOR. I think this is the help I needed. One more question. I had placed the new instrument panel on the dash and overnight it got moisture, condensation, under the glass of the gages. How can I prevent this from happening again? Thanks, Gary
