Hi all,

Ive bought a Ford 4000 with a fitted Farmhand loader - this works well.

I removed the loader & proceeded to try the hydraulic arms, there is very little movement on the quadrant lever, but when I force it forward (about 1/2) the arms drop slowly, but when I let go the arms lift again.

I notice the smaller lever on the axle tunnel seems to move slightly when this happens ?

Just on a separate note, I recently replaced the return pipe as it blew off, filling the hydraulic oil to the correct level plus about 1 pint extra - has this added to the problem?

Any advice would be most welcome.

Do you have one or both of the remote handles under the seat held in place with a bungee or something similar? The 3 point lift will only operate if both remote vale handles are centered.

Hi, thanks for replying

I have tried the middle plunger both fully in & out, one way powers the external service - in this case it was the loader block. - Are you saying put the plunger in the middle & the short lever on the right in the centre?

PS, I will be away for a week, so will respond then

ALL the best

Dave

Please post a picture of the other ends of those lines that are going from the bottom of those pictures toward the rear of the tractor

Are you able to post a photo of the loader valve plumbing
If the tractor has been equipped with a power beyond block it could be a simple fix

First off, is it the pre-1965 4 cylinder 4000 or the 1965+ 3 cylinder 4000?

Also, you said this:

What "return pipe" are you referring to? A return line for a remote valve, or something else?

Hi, & thanks for responding

The tractor is a Force - 1973 3 cylinder ford 4000 Diesel

The return pipe is the return line from the loader remote valves.

Its gotten me beat
