I have a big bowl Marvel-Shebler Carburetor in my 1963 Ford 861. I don't know what the valve is in the bottom of the carboretor toward the sediment bowl side. Is it just a drain for the bowl?

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeAndy, just drop the plows, strap yourself on the side of tractor within reach of adjuster and put it on auto-steer.

To add to JMOR's comments, here is diagram from the Ford Parts List. See 27, described as NEEDLE ASSY., Carb Main Adj. 172''

The adjustment procedure calls for making the adjustment under full throttle full load which might be difficulty if you don't have a dyno or power-hungry stationary PTO device.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeThat is the main power adjust. The drain plug is the hex that-has been chewed up with pliers

Good idea on the photo...

I see it does have a drain plug also. I am talking about the crew valve in the bottom pointed toward the sediment bowl (Stamped 550). It does not seem to have an affect on the adjustment and I have to remove it all the way to get it to drain.

Marvel-Schebler was the supplier for FORD TRACTOR carbs until the Thousand Series. Parts were relatively the same with differences by the size of unit - larger units used larger Venturis, for example. The Drain Plug on bottom half as Wore Out stated is a 1/8 NPT PLug. Next to it shul be a sintered bronze filter drain for extreme overflow. SEE #17 and #29 on lists. Uses a 7/16 HEX HEAD.

A photo would help, but most likely you are looking at a drain petcock screwed into the 1/8'' pipe thread drain port in the bottom of the float bowl.
