What holds the knob to the lever on an 801 lift?

Was it cast on? Is it removable/replaceable? It seems to be on pretty tight!

You can always use a MAGNET to test a material for a ferrous metal. If it sticks, it is magnetic and made of iron. If it doesn't, probaby aluminum, pewter, or zinc. A bare unpainted/exposed part will oxidize fast so if it shows signs of rust, that is another quick test as well. Your knob looks to me like it is a non-ferrous part but Shaun may know better. I also is probably a press fit.

Umm, why would you want to take it off?

BTW, I learned the hard way not to force the lever if the friction disk is frozen: I snapped the lever right off. Must be a common mistake because the local CNH dealer had the friction disk hub in stock.

I think that they can use some sort of masking on the rest of the part when they do the chrome plating and then remove it afterwards.
