841 Hydraulic fill port

Good Evening all, Here's a new one to me and I'd thought I'd run it past you guys for your input. I recently acquired another 1959 841 S with an elenco 4 wheel
drive system. This is the first 800 series to cover that I've ever seen with no plug to fill the hydraulic system. My other 841, 861, 860 and 4000, all have the
plug just below the seat making it a pain to fill. I know that parts get swapped on these all the time, but this one has me curious. The 2 coats of paint 1 red
and 1 blue, seem consistent all over the tractor. It's stamped 841, it has the 3 point lever on the side along with the draft/position control lever shaft( the
lever is missing). All the 3 point arms and linkages are there along with the PTO shaft, and they show plenty of usage. So its not likely the rear half was
swapped out from an 821. Was wondering if the 821 or 831 top cover didn't come with a fill port? The top cover looks a bit different than my other fords, more
flat on top, not the angle on the side where the fill port is. Take a look and let me know your thoughts. Thanks

That's an odd one. You say the lift arms show usage, but do they currently work? If they do work, maybe be the hydraulic sump was filled through the plug normally used to check the hydraulic fluid level with the Elenco kit installed?

(quoted from post at 19:13:58 01/31/23) That's an odd front axle configuration. Does it have a 4WD conversion installed?

Yes, he told us in the second sentence of his OP.

Mystery solved, and learned something new today. It's a top cover from a later 3 cylinder series. Apparently they bolt right up, same pattern, however they are heavier and more robust. On tractors with backhoes and used (or abused) for heavy work, the originals had a tendency to crack just behind the plate where the remote hydraulics mount, then cracking the hydraulic case. I talked with Tony Jacobs yesterday and he recognized it immediately, and knew the reason it was there. Apparently a common fix for equipment used commercially. First time I ever came across it in 35 plus years of playing with the 01 series. Thanks for all your input...learn something new every year.

Missed that reading it the first time. I hate how my brain is going as I get older.

No, they don't currently work. She's been sitting neglected for a long time. Was in Escanaba Michigan, then went to lower Michigan, then back through the UP to northern Wisconsin. Haven't got to dig into yet, but I'm guessing she's low on fluid, since there is no way to fill it. We'll see in a few months when we get her in the shop. Got a few projects ahead of her. Been after this tractor for over a year now. Paid the second guy what I offered the first guy for it not running. The second guy got it up and running, then decided to flip it. Not sure what he paid for it.

Heres my 58 841 with Elenco showing a cracked hydraulic case right behind the hyd top plate for hydraulics just like Tony mentioned to you. Mine was welded up when I got it so I still have my fill port on top. Never knew about being able to fit the later top cover without a fill port either, thanks for sharing.
