6000 brake lock part

I am looking for the half mooned plate with teeth that is used to lock the brake pedal on a 6000 commander. I dont know if these
were available on early 6000s. My owners manual does show this on my late Commander. Al
 
It is my understanding that the brake locks were not available on the early tractors. I at one time had two Commanders, one with and one without.

Those brake locks are pretty much useless anyways, as they only work with the engine running. As soon as the engine is shut down and the accumulator bleeds off, they are nothing more than a paperweight.
 
I disagree with you Bern. If you are using the tractor around the barn yard, or in a utility setting the brake lock could be very helpful. A SOS tranny will slowly go into park when cold. So if you start the tractor, then drive a couple hundred feet to hook up to lets say a hay Rake, it will not stay where you ask it to. It will roll away. The park will come on if you hold the brakes and just sit there for a minute or so. Its a guessing game. On my 64 4000 the tractor will slowly creep when in park and cold. I was told this isnt uncommon so I installed brake locks from a 5 speed 801. It is nice. My Daughters will fire up a tractor, pull it up to the shop and jump off to grab a cold drink or maybe a grease gun. It sucks that it rolls or creeps away when the trans isnt up to operating temp. The Park works great once warm. I dont think it was intended to be used when the engine is shut off. I think it was Fords way of helping with the cold park problem. Al
 
I did say that the park brake only works when the engine is running, and I agree that the park lock is handy for the use as you described. The main intent of my post was to make sure that you realized that it was not for parking with the engine off. While I realize that the transmission is supposed to lock up with the engine off, the park brake will not work as an insurance device for a heavy load parked on a hill with bands that are not properly adjusted.
