800 Brake Backing Plates

Are replacement brake backing plates available for the 800 series? If so, who has them? I've checked this site, Steiner's, Dennis, and web search, but haven't
been able to find them. I pulled my left trumpet last night to repair a leaking (actually missing) gasket. The metal rings that hold the dust seal in place have
separated from the backing plate.

I've kept digging and here's what I found.
Books show part numbers 2211/2212 for left & right sides.
New Holland shows part numbers 312381/312380.
Walt's Tractor shows part numbers UFF55009U and UFF55010U as replacements for 312381/312/380.
But, Walt's site doesn't show any pictures.

Does anyone know if they will work?

Also in replaceing them if donot correct tools to remove collar and bearing they will have to be torched out and replaced along with the seals.

I got a reply from Walt's saying they don't have the backing plates in stock.

Anyone have any good ideas/advice/or videos of how to remove the locking collar?

Proper procedure is to drill and split with chisel. Need to have proper drill guide to do this safely.

Do not torch out unless you wish to replace bearings and, perhaps, axles.

On the last one I did I beat it well with a large chisel, you can not tell if it cracked the ring are not. It was hard to press off so on the next one I chiseled it well, then took a large tapered punch to the drilled hole. It split without a doubt and came right off.

The moral of the story back it up with a tapered punch in the drilled hole life will be good.

The dust seal grove on the backing plate, if it was mine it would not stop the show.

Curious if you would bend the rings flat as possible and use a seal, bent them straight as possible and forget the seal, remove the rings...?

I don't have mine all cleaned up yet, but it looks like the rings are just spot welded on. Seems like a guy could find someone with a CNC plasma cutter to make
new rings and then tack new rings in place.

Your tapered punch tip was awesome.
Yesterday I drilled it and beat on it with
a chisel. It showed no signs of breaking
free. Three wacks on the tapered punch and
it was off.

Scraped away some gunk from the backing
plate. I agree that it's still usable. I
little reshaping with a hammer and a few
track welds should do the trick.

Thanks

No one has those rings because it is very rare for anyone to want them. I haven't done it but I think that you could clamp the rings to the plates with vise grips then drill and plug weld them.
