Service parts SOS transmission?

I finally got my hands on that SOS transmission that Check Break alerted me to last September (original post linked below). After looking at it carefully, I'm guessing that it was originally purchased as a service parts replacement. I think this primarily because there are no stamped numbers whatsoever in the normal flat spot near the starting motor. That, and there is not a speck of blue paint anywhere on the case. Last fall it was suggested that maybe the case had been sandblasted, but that is not the case, it's simply all factory primer, along with a little rust.

It's the deluxe version with 2-speed PTO and the ground drive option. It also has the extra planetary in the back making it a 2000/3000 model trans.

The input shaft splines look pristine, making me wonder if it had ever even been installed in a tractor before. I'll know more once I pull it apart. Unfortunately, it was not well sealed at the steering box opening and rodents got inside and made a home amongst the planetary gears. It has been sitting on a pallet for at least 25 years.

As you can see from the images, the case was cast in December 1972 and the trans was assembled in July of 1973. If anyone has any idea as to what the BL7415 number means, I'd love to know what you think.

Sorry the pics are upside down. They were right side up when I loaded them.

That transmission came to mind recently.
I wondered what became of it.
I'd be interested in hearing how/why it took 4 months to get your hands on it.
An NOS transmission. Pretty cool.
Was the SOS offered in the 2000?
I thought they weren't.

The Operators Manual says the Deluxe SOS was available in the 2110, 3000 and 4000. The Service Manual says the Deluxe SOS with two speed independent PTO with proportional ground speed was for the 2000 Dexta, 3000 Dexta and 4000 Major.
Looks like an interesting project to find out what it fits, if it can be saved and used or if the inside is corroded from mouse pee and condensation. Non the less, what a find! A parts treasure chest.

The guy who advertised it for whatever reason ignored the original replies and let the post expire. He then reposted it again the other day, after which Check Break alerted me once more. The guy lived deep in the woods and appeared to be a bit of a recluse.

The transmission in my 971 has no numbers stamped in it. It has a Ford T&I plate with inventory number riveted to the left side of the steering support, and a 1959 plate soldered to the top of the radiator. We believe that it went back to the factory for a full swap out, and then was retained and used there for awhile then ultimately shipped to western MA.
