SOS pressure adjustments

I am adjusting the pressures on my second gen SOS in my 971. 2nd gen SOS. When taking my readings with the trans up to operating temp they were all a little under the spec range. I am now adjusting the regulating valves, but it is now cold. There was no problem bringing the pressure for the main one, which comes first, up to five lbs. above the upper end of the range, which was approx. a ten lb. increase. There is nothing in the manual about allowance for cold vs. hot. I am thinking that it should be at least 5 lbs. higher with the oil cold. I will of course check the pressures once I get it back together and can drive it or run it on the Dyno to heat it up. Thoughts?

Even though the manual is less than clear, ideally the pressures should be checked with the oil at normal
operating temps. I would simply note what the differences are in pressure between hot and cold and then
factor in that difference when making the adjustment cold.

Wouldn't you like to meet the guy who designed that adjustment system and tell him what you think? I'm sure
he's dead now, but I think about him every time I have to do it.

Oh, I am sure that he planned on having a much higher top cover to accommodate a control valve that would be higher and accessible, but that those in charge said "no, wrap it up and ship it out" as the story goes, LOL.

My control valve design would have turned the adjustable valves 90 degrees so they could be rotated through
holes in the side of the case.
