Ford 3000 Lift Capacity

I have a Ford 3000 with a Superior loader. Wondering if this unit will lift a large (5x6?) round bale of grass to load on a trailer. Used mostly to shove trees out of the field borders and seems stout. Loader is not the best and a bale fork would have to be bolt on. Old loader, not for attachments so bolt on seems the only option. I've never been able to max out lift cuz the rear end just comes up. Working on getting 900# or so of Rim guard in the rears. Anxious to find out if I can get a higher lift than a 3020 with a 3 pt.spear.

Put something heavy on the 3 point. My 841S has a heavy duty loader on it and I have a back blade on the 3 point with 8 85lbs suit case weights on the blade and a 150LBS wheel weight on the center link and I bale round 5X6 bales in the 1500 plus range and lift them with the loader all the time

Three things... without lots of ballast on the rear, no.. it will not lift safely and could flip over on its nose.. Second is that these bales when just out of the NEWER balers, can weigh over 1700 to 2000, where a week later they seem to shed off a couple of hundred pounds. So they can make the safety (overload) valve on the loader controls open and squeal loudly... and not pick up brand new bales. And finally the front end axle pivot will not hold up to this amount of weight and wear quickly.. and finally drive the fan into the radiator shroud.

As a rule of thumb, if the 3 point will not pick it up, the loader will not pick it up either on the 3000. Always put a bale on the rear before putting one on the front... and no slopes or deep ruts with the bale up high... Brand New bales no... older dryer bales maybe... year old bales, probably... size of loader cyls will make a huge difference also. Be Safe.

ou did put a question mark on the 5X6.....a 4X5 will weigh close to one-half of a 5X6

Thanks, much to ponder. Including getting my son in law and his skid steer over here! After reading and thinking about your comments my biggest worry is the front axle. Plenty of HP, but the axle already looks a bit undersized to me. Not sure of HP rating, but for a 1973, I'd bet it still has all or most of them!
