ford 5000 Diesel to gas

Are you asking if it would be easy to swap out the diesel engine for a gas engine? If so, then yes, a gasoline engine from another 5000 will bolt right up. If you are asking about converting a diesel engine to be a gas engine, then, you will need to swap a lot of parts, including the entire head, the crankshaft and the pistons at the least, and possibly other parts as well.

Crankshaft should be the same.
But yes, lots of other parts to swap.
Head, intake, entire fuel system, swap
injection pump for governor and
distributor...
Much easier to swap the entire engine.

If your needing a block for your gas tractor then yes the blocks are the same, providing they are the same bore
65-mid 68 engines were 4.2 bore 233 ci
Mid 68-75 engines were 4.4 bore 256

I thought that the diesel crankshafts were hardened more than the gas ones for some reason. I just looked at the parts pages and they are the same part number.

I guess the bean counters decided at some point that it was cheaper to harden all of team and only stock a single part number.
