loader for 5000

I am looking for an fel for my '68 5000 and found a loader that is currently mounted on a 2000. The manufacturer is a company called Amerequip which is still in business but they do not make or support the fel equipment any more. I haven't seen it yet, just pictures and it looks ok. Not knowing too much about mounting fel's and the plumbing required for them I have several questions.
1) If it fits on a 2000 can I be sure that it will fit on a 5000
2) It comes with its own pump that mounts on the front baluster. Is having its own pump a better or worse idea than plumbing it from the tractors pump accessory plate.
3) Even if it comes with its own pump can I plumb it into the tractors pump thru an accessory plate if that is the preferable way to do it, or if the pump has problems
Thanks
Alan

1) No. Two different tractors size-wise.
2) There are advantages and disadvantages to both options. Running it through the tractor hydraulics means you have no extra pump or pump driveshaft to deal with or look at. Big problem with a 5000 is only a 6-GPM pump, which won't do anything very quickly. If you want a fast loader, a front pump or PTO pump is your only choice.
3) Yes.

I do have a Westendorf WL-21 I would sell. It was on a Ford 7710, I think mounts are the same from 5000 to the 7000 series. Not sure what part of the country you are in. I'm in Eastern Nebraska.

Bern I agree. I have a Ford 7210 loader on my Ford 5000. I forget who made the loader for Ford. It runs off the tractor hydraulics and at 6gpm it is slow. It seems to have plenty of lifting power but slow. It was mounted on the tractor when I got it and I never changed anything. I have a New Holland 1920 with a loader and I use it mostly. Much faster but does not have near the lifting capacity.

Mounting brackets will be different, as a
7710 is a rowcrop; the front bolster is
different. Rear mount is likely the same.

Rear mount will be different to unless it's a universal desgn
The longer front bolster on the 7710 moves the entire loader forward so the rear mount has to be father forward as well

Thanks but I am in NJ. I also checked the Westendorf loader selector from their website and they are saying only the WL-42 will fit. My 5000 is a utility front end frame, and that apparently prevents me from using anything except the WL-42

Depends on which 2000 it is mounted on as to whether it would even be possible to make it fit on a 5000. As has been said, a 5000 is longer front-to-back than both 2000 models, but the earlier 4 cylinder 2000 is also narrower in the hood and front bolster, so the loader frame from one of those won't likely fit around the nose of a 5000.

Hi Alan. A guy here near Grand Junction Colo is advertising a Ford 737 loader for sale. It s apparently mounted on a Ford 5000. Check out western Colorado Craigslist under farm and garden.

If you don t end up with the loader off the 2000, please let me know. I m looking for a FEL for my 2000.

Merry Christmas

Steve
