Ford 3000 Headlights

Hey Team - I'm trying to get my headlights to work on my 3000. New headlights have been mounted and wired in. After they were mounted they tested fine by touching the positive wire to the battery. I thought I was all set, but when I installed the new light switch the lights didn't come on. Then I hooked the multi-meter to the voltage input to the switch and I don't get a voltage reading. I'm not sure where to go next. The schematic doesn't show a fuse in that circuit, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts before I tear into the wiring harness??

Thanks
Jeff

What letter does your tractor's serial number start with? The US made ("C" serial number) tractors had no fuse for the the headlight circuit. The European made tractors ("A" and "B" serial numbers) did have a fuse inside the base of the headlight switch itself.

What wiring diagram are you using? Here's the one from the I&T FO-20 Service Manual and is correct.

So it should not have had a headlight fuse when it was new. That doesn't mean that the wiring hasn't been modified by a previous owner. Does the wire to the input of the headlight switch come directly from the key switch double terminal that also has the wire from the hot side of the battery? Is there power at the key switch end of the wire? Tracing wiring issues is hard to do remotely.

There's [b:9f3a30a679]not[/b:9f3a30a679] power at the key switch end of the wire.

I'll check the wiring after I dig out from the snow storm.

It could be plugged into the wrong terminal on the back of the key switch. It should be connected to a spade that is part of the same connection as where the hot wire from the battery comes into the key switch, so it should always have power even if the key switch is off.
