5000 leveling box handle

I'm missing the leveling box handle on my 73 5000, but I have a replacement on the way. I thought I would be able to find pictures or at least a decent breakdown of that assembly, but I'm not finding much. I have what appears to be the later model, not the one with the retaining spring clip, but rather the one with the solid metal clip. I'm not finding it on YTs store, but here's a link to the type I have: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263947096162

I see a hole in the handle which I assume might be for a pin or something to retain it? Can someone tell me how this works, and if I need to open up the box to install it?

Yes, that's the one I have. Do you know if I need to take the box apart to install that arm? I can't really tell from the exploded parts drawing. I'm pretty sure I do need to open it up, but just wanted to verify first.

Is number 44 in that parts drawing what you are calling the arm? If so, then that is actually the handle, and also if yes, you need to take the top cover off, number 47, to install the handle, because the end of the handle shaft needs to go into the smaller gear, number 43, and be held in place with the roll pin, number 45.

I took it apart earlier, no big deal. Took a lot longer to clean out all the old grease. Looks like someone had been using a pipe wrench to turn the shaft, rather than just replacing the handle. Looking at the drawing and seeing the actual gear, it's just a 3/16 roll pin.

Thanks

Usually... the small gear shatters into many pieces... so usually a new small gear, roll pin, if you can find it, and your back in biz.... the small gear actually rides below the large gear iirc, so yes you have to take the upper and lower housing apart, and raise the lower shaft up.... to allow the small gear to go down into the pocket, as you then put the upper and lower housings back together... again iirc.

I was surprised actually that after I took it all apart, both of the gears are in nearly perfect condition. I have it all cleaned up now and ready to go back together, and I got a replacement (original) handle in the mail today. I'll get it back on the tractor tomorrow maybe.
