stupid question, but how do i adjust the idle on this CAV injection pump, mine is racing way too high

[is there supposed to be a spring attached the part where the throttle linkage attaches. where the adjustment screw is? if anyone can show a photo of that adjustment for the idle is I would appreciate it. I am new at this so if i appear to be dumb its because when it comes to this tractor, I am. /quote]

First off, get yourself an Operators Manual and a Service Manual for the 1965-1975 2000/3000/4000 series tractors. The Operators Manual covers all routine maintenance items, and the Service Manual covers everything else. The only things not covered in those manuals are the manual reversing and auto reversing transmissions, which your 4400 might have, and the steering setup, and the foot feed throttle linkage if yours has it. The engine, including the injection pump and standard throttle linkage, etc. is in those two manuals.
