Filters Ford 445A Diesel

How many filters do I need to replace on my Ford 445A Diesel. I did the fuel filter this fall. I bought it 2 years ago and haven't done
anything to it but the fuel filter. It's not used that much and usually lightly.

For the fuel system there is a screen inside the tank on top of the shutoff valve, then the main fuel filter that you changed, and there should also be a small cartridge style filter inside the rear of the injection pump, below where the line from the main filter connects.

There should also be an engine oil filter on the left side of the engine. If you haven't changed that yo, please do so.

Depending on which transmission that it has, there could possibly also be a transmission oil filter that would be on the left side of the transmission.

If it has a 3 point lift there should also be a filter for the 3 point hydraulic fluid under the left floor board.

If it has a front end loader and/or a backhoe, there is likely at least one filter for those systems, possibly more, but the locations may vary depending on which exact loader and/or backhoe it has.

Wow that's a lot of filters.I called my NH dealer and they didn't have all of that information. Thanks.
Now all I need is the numbers.

Add the power steering filter to that list, you need to get on the net and order an owners manual ASAP

The screen in the fuel tank and the one inside the rear of the injection normally pump don't need to be changed on a regular basis, only if the fuel system gets contaminated with something like algae or actual dirt and debris.

The engine oil filter, trans oil filter and 3 point hydraulic fluid filter are all external spin-on filters and you should be able to find markings on the ones that are there now to be able to cross reference the numbers.

The filter for the loader hydraulics is most likely inside the loader frame, which should be the reservoir for the fluid, and there should be a plate on the bottom of the frame below one of the uprights that comes off and the filter is on top of the plate.

Here's what I noted in my records.

Engine Oil. Napa 1452. Baldwin 111
Transmission Shuttle. Napa 1189. Baldwin BT5
Hydraulic. Napa 1857. I don't think Baldwin makes this filter.
Fuel Filter Spin On Base. Wix 24038. Spin On Filter. Napa 3996.
P/S Filter. Napa 1323. Baldwin BT548.
Outer Air. Napa 2532. Baldwin PA2513.
Inner Air. Napa 6333. Baldwin PA 2514.

The hydraulic filter (element) is located in the oil tank above the front pump. The trans shuttle filter is under the left running board. I've just about used up all my fuel filter elements and am switching to spin on. I included the conversion part numbers if anyone is interested. Shop around. There's incredible markup in filters. When I was buying them in quantity, a $15-20 filter could be had for $5 with my volume discount. I feel like I'm being raped when I have to pay $50 for an air filter that's really $15, or less.
