i took the measurements today and it looks like im a 1/2 inch short of the finger engagement cant understand why because the clutch unit looks the same as the one i took out.
confused in Massachusetts

Disk in up side down can cause that and not let things work as they should. Learned that way back when I was 17 or so when I replaced the clutch in a 1971 GMC pickup

there is a short side and long side to the spline part of the disk and it will not go in backwards i checked that before i put it together
thanks anyway

First, as you've discovered, a 1/2 inch, if an accurate measurement is way too much
Typically should be closer to an 1/8 inch when release levers are set to spec.

Which brings us to Second, did you indeed check / set the release lever height as recommended in your earlier post from Nov 28th?

Thirdly, there is no way to check a pressure plate assembly release lever height mounted to a flywheel with a clutch disc in place, against one not mounted.

PPA's need to be mounted, with disc, when setting height

Im confused there is no finger adjustment on my pressure old or new the bolts only hold a yoke for the pins to actuate the clutch.
one thing i did find is the new disk is about .060 thicker than the old. when the new pressure plate is bolted up to the fly wheel it looks as if the springs are nearly bottomed out. still looking for the problem
thanks for all your responses
