Question on Jubilee Rear Wheel whooble.

Has anyone ever been able to shim the Jubilee Spline portion of the Rear Axle and Hub when it whoobles? Replacing the Shaft isn't an option yet. And do all true Jubilee's have the solid Axle Nut with a retainer? Mine has no retainer, and the Nut has an inner slotted, threaded bushing with a Jam Nut...

The original nut on the Jubilee had the snap ring.

The new improved nut is designed to prevent premature wear on both axle and hub. Because sometimes the snap ring on the original type can fall out or rust out which allows the nut to come loose. The two piece is designed to stay tight.

I use the old style nuts to set the hubs on the axles (torqued to 400ft/lbs), then I take them off & put on the newer style for the final assembly.

Might be able to take the hub off, rotate it to a different position, then retighten. Sometimes that works. Next you can use a larger washer or two with a center hole larger than the splines to push the hub further on the axle (as the nut is probably bottoming out on the axle). If that doesn't work, try replacing the hub only. If that doesn't work, then you will definitely need a new axle along with the hub. If you put a new hub on an old axle and it is still loose, don't run it that way or you will ruin your new hub.

But if it has the repair nut and it is loose again, sounds like both the hub and axle have reached the end of their life.

Thank you everyone for your responses! The options and info are great while my Tire Rim is being replaced, and waiting for better
weather. I'll check my Hub for rotation/replacement possibilities, already put extra Flat Washers, and wasn't then aware of the
400 ft. lb. Torque required (on a 3/4 Ratchet, how long of a pipe gives you 400 ft.lbs.?). I haven't felt the Nut bottoming out,
and thought I'd strip the fine threads. The pics/info of the two nuts helps, and still need to check out the You tube link. Thanks
again!!
