Ford 6600 hydraulic leak

Hi, Wondering if someone can help me out, I have a Ford 6600 here in south Africa. We brought it second hand and have reconned the engine and all.

Recently it started a small leak from the lifting point of the arm that connectd to the top cover aswell as the control lever all on the side above the oil filter. Now it has got to the point where you can watch the oil dribble out. We took the top cover over and redid all the seals and o rings, but it still is leaking. (I have attached pictures)

I have looked on the net to try and find out what could be the cause and I can't find much. Some guidance or advise as what it may be would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome. Unfortunately you need to get a certain number of posts up before this site will allow you to post pictures. It used to be around 10 posts, but I saw someone claim recently that you only need 5 now.

Leaking out of the top cover like that sounds like there may be too much fluid in there. The fluid level should be below where the top cover mounts to the center housing, so there shouldn't be much oil up that high to leak out, except for what might get splashed up there. Does the 3 point lift work otherwise?

Hi, thanks for the info re the pics.

The oil level is between the min and max of the dipstick witch is about halfway up on the diff.

The amount of oil coming out seems like it's more of a leak or a crack in the tip cover more than a splashing type. We topped up the oil about w weeks ago and I had to top up again today with around 10 litres.

Without pictures.. I believe you will need to clean it and find out exactly where its leaking from. It could be the oring area where the high pressure is fed up to the controls.. or could be coming through a bolt hole, or even a gasket leaking. Could be damaged cover, or damage piston cyl or control valve assembly. Some have had success by removing the top cover, and then using compressed air and blowing into the feed port to see where it leaks on the cover. After 5 posts, you can add pictures. good luck on your problem.
