Ford 5000 engine

A 1967 5000 would have had a 233 ci engine originally, but they only made them with that engine for a couple of years, so it may be harder to find one than the 256 ci version that they used for many more years and on many more models. The 256 is a direct replacement for the 233.

Have you tried a Google search on rebuilt Ford 5000 tractor engines? There are a number of hits of places that claim to have them. brokentractor.com seems like a decent place. They have rebuilt 256 long blocks available.

65, 66, 67 and early 68 5000 s had been he 233 engine
Mid 68 - 75 models used the larger built re 256 thanks had more hp
The later model 5600 used the 233 engine while the 6600 had a 256
Any of these engines along with the later 26 engine are direct fit for your tractor
The 256 or 268 would be my choice

Thanks for the info.... it looks like I will be better off having a local machine shop overhaul my old engine. About same price ($5,000) but at least i will
not pay shipping.
