So it seems the 555C has the same Lucas set up typical of Ford tractors from this era and it appears the reman I installed
less than 25 hours ago in May of '20 failed. Sensor is hooked up under battery, battery was new in '19, just topped off all
cells with distilled water, it tests good, holds 12.5 volts when sitting. The gauge used to show good charge, does not now.
So with the old battery tester, clearly not charging, when reading taken directly off the battery and off the alternator
directly when running. I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing in regards to testing, that would give a false
positive. I guess I could take the alternator off and have it tested to verify. Also wondering what would cause one to fail
with little run time. My tester is the old rectangular type with an analog meter, load switch, housing that is ventilated
for the element inside for load testing.
