Been away from this project for awhile, but getting back after it. Working on re-wiring and checking fluids before I try to spin
it over. Level check plugs do not seem to line up with the op manual I have. Serial number put mine as a January 1973 build,
diesel 8 speed. Am I overlooking something? Jason

The filler plug on a 5000 has a dip stick made onto it, remove the fill up plug and see if the dip stick is there
Your late model 5000 may have a rear axle dip stick on the left side a few inches behind the pto lever where it goes into the axle housing
I ve go a 74 model I can look at tomorrow

The trans has a dip stick, but not such luck with the rear end/hydraulics. I get most of the day Saturday to myself so I am going
to push work ahead. Thanks for the help.

I have found a lot of things quite different on my late model 5200 vs the generic 1000 series manual that came with it.

They improved and changed the 5000/ 5200 so much by the end it really should have been a new series? And had its own manual.

Yes there were a number of upgrades especially the 72/75 models

I do find it odd that your 73 model doesn t have a check plug on the back of the axle housing
Our March 74 5000 has that plug while the December 75 6600 has the side dip stick

The 6600 is a row crop model like your 5200
