Ford 3000 cross-threaded draft guide pin

Took the seat off my Ford 4110 (I'm told it's basically a 3000 with the 4000 diesel) so I can repair the 3 point. The rear seat bolt doubles as the draft plunger guide pin. Unfortunately, it's cross-threaded and only screws about halfway into the top lid, not getting where it needs to fit into the end of the plunger. A 7/16 nut won't go on. A 1/2 nut will but is sloppy on what's left of the good threads. A metric 12 fits better but still not tight. There are vice jaw marks on the rounded shaft, so I'm guessing somebody tried to get the top nut off long ago. I do not know if the receiving threads in the lid are mucked up or not.

Should I try tapping the threads in the lid? If so, what size and what should I do with the pin? Or should I manufacture a new one. Any advice is much appreciated. BTW there's only one place that offers a new pin and they want $241 for it!

I think the threads are 7/16-14 but don't quote me on that I don't have a Ford here right now to check out.

Mine was the same as yours I got the nut off beat it straight tapped and chased the treads and moved on with life.

No doubt I could make one out of nuttin'n if need be.
