Ford 2000 3-cyl power steering column leak

I have a leak out of the left side of the power steering
column. It is coming out from around an eye shaped plate
with bolts 180 degrees apart if that makes any sense. There
is a threaded rod projecting from the center of this plate
with a lock nut on it.

Is this leak hard to fix or just a gasket issue?

Thank you.

Also, someone installed flexible (rubber) hydraulic hoses on this tractor from the power steering pump to the steering column and back that hang down and ride/rub on the steering linkage arms on the left side of the tractor.

Is there a source for steel lines to match the factory setup for this tractor or should I look for a set of good used lines?

Thank you.

Do an internet search for Messicks New Holland Parts, they will have a listing for the lines you need.

to your original question.. I believe the lower seal on the power steering section is leaking pressurized fluid into the bottom area.. The bottom is normally unpresurized and full of 90 wt gear oil. SO if you have a pressure leak from above, it will probably continue to leak till that seal is replaced. If a groove is cut into the shaft, could require a speedy seal or other fix.

I think I have done 3/8 nicop from doing the brakes on a
case 580. I guess I can take the ends of the lines to a Hyd
shop to figure out what they are.
