Hello-
I have a 1963 Ford 4140 heavy duty industrial tractor with the 712 super duty loader and 723 12' backhoe. My bucket tilt cylinders and lift cylinders on the 712 loader are leaking pretty good now. Even leaks out oil when tractor is shut off. Seems like I have to add a few gallons each time, after letting tractor sit for a few weeks.
I have looked up all the part numbers for the repair kits for these cylinders. Found and purchased two new Ford repair kits for the bucket cylinders on Ebay for $25 each. The lift cylinder repair kits are close to $130 each from New Holland. Part # 309565 (old#), 309850 (current part #).
The o-rings and shaft oil seal in the repair kit I can source locally. Was wondering where I can get the two packing sets? Anyone have the dimensions and type of packing I should be looking for? Alternate part numbers for modern day repair kit?
I already checked the Parts Depot, but they want $112 each for the old repair kit# 309565. I cringe when calling the dealer to get pricing from the Parts Depot. Seems they always want modern day stupid high pricing for a part that has been on the shelf for 50+ years! Thought the whole point of the depot was to move the old parts? Guess they can sit on the shelf longer with high pricing. There has got to be a way to size up new packing for alot less money, I just dont know where to start. Let me know your thoughts and ideas. Thanks in advance!
