New 3000 Diesel Owner - Questions

I was recently given what appears to be a really nice 1960's 3000 diesel. I haven't checked the serial number yet but it has the early style grill on it. Prior owner had it garage kept and had repainted it years ago. It has a factory Ford snow plow on it and I was told he pushed snow with it one winter.

I have a bunch of JD tractors so I am familiar with finding parts for those through JD's website. Is there a Ford website to look up parts and parts diagrams? I am guessing it must have gone to New Holland?

I am looking for headlights and filters to start with. All the lights work except the headlights so I want to get that fixed up.

Anything to look for on these tractors in terms of trouble spots?

Thanks!

While you can get a lot of your Ford parts here at YT, a lot of us here shop at Messick's in PA. They are set up to do a lot on line. You can easily get to the CNH parts pages on their website.

First off you can buy 99% off your ford parts on the internet and avoid the stealership. Get a Ford 2000,3000,4000,5000 operators manual for all the daily needs of the tractor and info off of ebay or amazon. Only thing wrong in the manual will be the oil recommendations from 1965. Use a 15w-40 rotella, delvac, or delo hd diesel oil instead. any Tractor rated hydraulic oil will far exceed the m2c-53 specs for the transmission and rear end. Tractor Supply has there JD20c thf on sale twice a year for around $39 for a 5 gal bucket, so dont go buy Super Agri-G(m2c134g) from new holland for $160 a pail. Power steering if equipped will take a m2c-43 rated fluid which is about any power steering, atf, thf you buy on the market. These were great tractors in that size.

Motorcraft FL-1A for the spin on oil filter. If you have the cartridge, you can get an adapter off ebay to change types. Air filter is oil bath and only needs service unless you have a later model with the paper air filter in the side of the front cowl...early ones are behind the grille. Otherwise forget filters....aren't any unless they still have an inlet filter in the hyd sump.....if so I wouldn't worry about it. I bought my '65 about 25 years ago with over 5k hours and haven't had any hyd. flow problems if mine does have a hyd. filter.
