Ford calls it Dual Power, which is simply a 2-speed planetary unit ahead of the main transmission to give a powershifted low-high shift in each of the 8 main transmission gears. Pushing down one button gives you low range, and the other high.

Please be more specific as to the trouble you're having. Slips in one range, or both, or doesn't shift at all, or ?? If it doesn't shift at all, I'd check the external linkage. You should feel a detent action each time you press down on a button.

(quoted from post at 15:15:24 10/30/22) International lingo for Torque Amplifier.

What we would call Dual Power then?

Is it a pair of round buttons down on the floor board that you push with your foot? If so, they control a hydraulic valve that controls a hydraulic clutch assembly that switches the input of the transmission between normal gearing and underdrive, which provides the extra power or torque.

Does it work in normal range, or does it not work in either range?
