I could not find the disconnect I usually use so settled for this one.

Amazon

Battery Switch, 12V 24V 48V Battery Disconnect Master Cutoff Switch for Marine Boat RV ATV UTV Vehicles, Waterproof Heavy Duty Battery Isolator Switch (On/Off)

It is a lot more work to drill and tap it fits well beside the starter solenoid and fuel shut off. I did not kill a animal and no soldier was used to make up the cables. BTW this 2000 is going to my S.I.L as soon as he builds a shelter for it.

(quoted from post at 09:20:01 10/29/22) Looks nice. Did you do it for safety, or because you have a battery drain issue?

1) My tractors set most of the time.
2) because I can : )
3) Yes the new battery went dead over a couple months : ( My 3000 will drain in a few months also.

This one sometimes the gen light stays on when shut off if you fire it up and shut it off the light stays off. It has what looks like a new voltage regulator on it I may look into this. It charges great as good as any I have every looked at so I did not want to mess with it.

Its setting beside me I will report back soon with my readings on the drain. I keep a few voltmeters in stock maybe I can find a nice place to hang one on it. Its going 125 miles away my S.I.L does not have much need for a tractor I want him to start out with a nice tractor. I have a N I was gonna give him if you are gonna give someone a tractor give'em a good one. He makes killer money and dreams of owning a 100 acer + farm.

The bad he thinks I am gonna retire move to SC and run it for him. No No No I plan to play rat here...

The reason I asked is because there should be zero battery drain on a tractor of that vintage when the key
is shut off. With today's machines with multiple onboard computers, it's a whole different story.

I know that I don't need to tell you anything, but.....
When that WL stays on and ign off, the cut out contacts didn't open and battery is draining back thru WL and more importantly back thru the generator (feel it for heat after awhile).

Maybe I like a spanking : )

Just checked, No drain the gen light staying on was intermittent it happen just a few times after I got it running. I did clean the contacts including the connectors at the regulator all's good it works great...

Another look its a clean install. I forgot to pick up mounting bolts for the bracket this morning. I was going to install/make up a new ground cable no one had bulk cable and I am out.

That's a nice installation. The switch looks like a knock-off of a Blue Sea Systems switch. I would be a bit concerned using a knock-off switch rather than the real thing if it was on something my life depended on (like an offshore boat), but it ought to be just fine on your tractor.

I understand.

I wanted a disconnect like I have on several other tractors I could not find them online not did I want to take a ride looking for it. I think I got the one in this post from Northern tool.

I want to get a Dorman Battery Disconnect for my Tractor. For now I pull the battery terminal. I left it connected for a long time thinking nothing of it but had a short or something one night and it started a fire on the engine. I have pictures from the security camera. It just burned for a few min and snuffed itself out. Burned the ignition components side of my Ford 2000 Gasoline tractor. The fuel was turned off and that is what probably saved the tractor and structure it is stored under. I will not leave a piece of equipment in the field unattended with a battery connected. Never again.
