1871 ford steering cable source?

Sorry but no. The factory answer was to refit them (1801,4040) with the 4140 style steering system. If you can find a 4140 donor tractor and use the parts off of it, that is a good way to go. There are aftermarket kits available as well, I have one that is on an 1841. I bought it that way, so sorry dont know the make on it. I dont know if it was installed correctly but they took off the power steering pump and are using the front loader pump to run the loader and power steering. The downside to it is that you cant use the power steering and the loader/backhoe at the same time. I am going to put the PS pump back on and see how it does. If not, I will do something else. Please note that Ford made 2 4140 models, the one you need was built between 1962-1965, series is HD4000 model 4140x- 5th digit would mostly tell which trans is in it. Have an 1821 that someone had put some kind of valve on it, yep, its as dangerous as you are imagining it to be. Its like steering with a stick shift. You can check out Roland Jackson power steering systems he might still make something, http://jacksonpowersteering.com/
