Getting ready for snow.

I hauled the snow plow home from up at the property this week and put the main frame on my tractor today.
That required I remove the bumper and weights and I put standard knees/spindles back on it instead of the shorty LCG ones I've been running for 6 years or so. The rest of the plow just pins onto this frame.
I have been doing snow duty with the back blade which sucks compared to the front plow.
I took it for a spin afterwards.
Weird driving it with the nose 4in taller than its been all that time.
I noticed the clutch needs adjusting and the brakes really need some attention too.
I like working on this tractor. They are just so simple.

I think situational awareness is an
important part of risk management. So I
tend to focus on that.
I changed this tractor from gas to diesel
at least 10 years ago.
Diesel doesn't need much in the way of
electrics so I still start it with a linch
pin across the solenoid.
Some folks wouldn't go without shift knobs
or key switches but that way works for me.
In a blow-up you can see the linch pins -
hanging on the throttle handle on the dash.

Getting ready for snow here too Jerry.
I took the tire chains and snowblower off for the last hayride of the year.
Won't do that again. Too much of a hassle putting them back on and adjusted.
I have other tractors that will pull a hayride!
Obviously I need a bigger hayride wagon or I need to pull two! LOL

Ultradog, I'm with you, sometimes the old, rusty, hardware can be a pain, but yeah, they're just so simple. Heck, I took apart the light switch, cleaned it up, put some dielectric grease on all the contacts, and it's good as new. I've enjoyed working on my 3000 here lately.

Hey Royse, nice looking tractor! Is that a 5000? I'm sure that cab is nice for those northern winters!

I enjoy the snow when we get it here in VA, but then again, if we measured ours in feet and not inches like y'all do, maybe I wouldn't care for it so much, haha.

Gotcha, the fenders made me think it was a 5000 and the cab makes it look bigger too. Here's my 3000. I found a cheap front blade and thought about going for it, but decided I had enough projects on this tractor already.
