What is the difference between the 2000 and 3000 ford 3cyl tractors. Tractor data seems to have some inaccurate info. Thanks

The difference between my 69 3000 and 70 2000 is the rear axles and brake shoes. Both are basically the same other than the way you take them apart. The part numbers for the rear axle seals and brake shoes are different.

The 3000 does not like to be choked heavily the 2000 choking it is a must. The 2000 fires up in a blink of an eye and ready to work. The 3000 can be a little finicky it seams it likes you to baby it some.

Two identical tractors one likes a little loving before it goes to work.

I noticed the engines are the same except for 100 more rpm out of the 3000. Seems like a big HP differential for everything else being the same. However, The Diesel is bigger in the 3000 than the 2000 and the extra hp makes sense there. THanks for the input.

Not 100 hp difference. The difference was more like 7 or 8 hp.

Gas engines were both 158 ci, but the carburetors were different and the 3000 had a bit higher rated rpms. The diesel 2000 was a 158, but the 3000 diesel was a 175, plus different injection pumps.

A couple more differences... The 2000 did not have the S-O-S transmission available as an option, nor did it have a flow control valve for the 3 point lift, while the 3000 had the S-O-S available and they always had the flow control valve.

A couple of differences between the 2000/3000s that you can see at a glance are the 2000 never had the flow control valve on the right side and the 3000s always did.
Also, the 2000 had an exposed draft control spring and the 3000 spring was covered.
Early 2000s had round axle housings with no provision for differential lock.
Late 2000s had square axle housings with provision for optional diff lock like the 3000s always had.

It seemed like the difference in hp was quite a bit for engines that were the same size and compression. Rated at 100 rpm higher made a difference. I found they had a different carb so that probably accounts for it.

No, if you are a diesel guy. The 3000 has more pulling power with the extra cubes and the different pump is to feed that extra CI. I
had/have both and there is a marked difference in tugging power.

question: on 3000. Has a 13 spline FEL drive on front. Had after market hydraulic pump attached when I bought. Pump is dead. Attempting to replace. They want rotation direction: most Fords are CW as facing motor. Is the FEL drive also CW or reversed: CCW?
Thanks for any assist.
