Front bolster bushings

I'm putting new pin and bushings in the front steering arm. Opened up everything out of the package and slid the bushings over the pin by hand. I had to force them over the pin, the clearance was that tight. I thought to myself that this is likely not going to end well. I drove the lower bushing in place, press fit feels normal. Shaft will barely start in the hole and then gets tight. Arghh!! Now I get to ream them out somehow.

I know I didn't damage the bushing installing it because I used the appropriate flat bushing driver that contacted the entire surface area of the bushing- this is not my first rodeo. The problem is stated on the package that the bushings came in - made in China! And yes, I got the parts from NH.

More work but less aggravating to make them yourself. What happened to the SOS.

Seems like every part you buy today has to be modified in some way, if I didn't have a well equipped welding and machine shop, I don't think I could do mechanic work.

UPDATE: My friend Tim (Dopp Creek) came over and helped me out. He brought an abrasive flapper wheel with him that made a bunch of sparks and at the same time gave me some clearance in a jiffy. I was surprised at how fast it went after I tried something similar with a brake hone and 220 grit stones, which didn't even faze the bushing. Thank you Tim!
