figured out why no crank no spark (72 Ford 3000)

Two problems: no spark at spark plugs and no crank when turning the key. (i had posted previously about this)
This time I had a multi-meter to test things. And a good neighbor with knowledge about the ignition system. We found power to the solenoid but nothing beyond it. The good neighbor said: "tap on it and try again". Lo and behold! We got crank.
Question: can the solenoid be fixed, or should i buy new?
I found this on this TY Co. website, matches what the tractor has:

Next we tested the spark plug wires - two out of three had NO CONDUCTIVITY. Good neighbor thinks the carbon is broken... What does that mean?
I'd like to buy new spark plug wires. Two are same length and one is longer. What do you guys recommend? Here's picture of what I have:

Solenoids CAN be repaired. I just repaired a brand new one for my Ford 861. There is nothing in one that is intimating. it is all mechanical . Just drill out the 4 rivets, lightly sand the last 1/4 to 1/2 the bottom end of plunger. Work plunger up and down until it don't stick anymore. replace the rivets with small bolts. And your good to go..

Moday just repaired his.

I can remember when the selonoids came with screws instead of rivets. We would pull them apart... first take both big lugs and turn them over 15degress to provide a fresh surface, then take the copper washer and flip it over.. reassemble...

Don't use carbon ignition wires. Those are
for hei, which your ford doesn't have if
you have points. I just went through a no
spark on my 3600 after putting a clutch in
it. Changed points, condenser, rotor, still
nothing. Already had new wires and a coil,
tried that, nothing. Took an old condenser
from a GM and just layed it in the
distributor. Yep, got fire. Bought new
Sparex parts with a bad one. Back to Napa.
Give me a condenser for a 65 Ford 189. Guy
just looked at me, he knew what I was
playing with. Yep, told him point and
condenser were the same. He looked it up,
65 Ford 289 are the same part #'s a a 3 cyl
Ford tractor. Said he'd have to remember
that. This time I got Echlin instead of
sparex. Never again will I. Don't know why
I did to begin with.

I got mine at napa. Belden universal 4 cyl
set. Has stranded wire in side. You do have
to cut and crimp on the coil wire and
distributor cap end. The plug ends are
done. Or you can get them from here. They
will have boots to fill the plug holes and
keep debris out. They are kind of hard to
put on though. Trying to get the end on the
plug and the boot in the hole at the same
time.
