4630 ford tractor---no cab

tractor is slow to turn over. Has a new battery and starter has been rebuilt. Would adding another ground wire from starter to body help starter to spin faster?

If there are any suspect cables and/or connections, then either clean them or replace them. The original battery cables and grounding circuit should provide plenty of current if they are not dirty or corroded.

I have a Ford/new Holland 3010s which is a fiat unit no relation to the 30 series other than the tin & dash cluster, but my ground attaches to the top side of the front axle bolster. If I do not remove the ground bolt and clean threads and area around it the tractor acts like it has a dead battery even with a good battery. I'm contemplating running a strap from that ground to the side of the bolter where the loader frame attaches. If I were you I would try it

ill clean thanks

I had a 100 horse JD 4230 that was that way. Right side wire to an engine-tranny mounting bolt for Neg. of a 6 volt OEM style
battery, 0 Ga. wire used through the whole loop.....Plus went across the frame to the like battery Neg. Pos of that battery went to
the starter solenoid....wired in series... Starter bolted to the same frame reference just on the opposite side.

I junked the batteries (was time to change anyway) and got rid of the 0 gauge wire and paralled a pair of 00 conductors with 12v 31
series batteries on both sides. Left side battery Neg went under a starter mounting bolt that had been cleaned as was the starter
case with the wire lug touching the case in that area while the Pos lug went to the same spot as before on the solenoid.

Result was that I didn't have to touch the key when I wanted it to start, I just thought START and it roared to live......well not quite
but it was well worth the effort and I didn't have to go through the Ether problem (hard to get to air cleaner opening and I don't like
Ether starts) when it turned cold.

and like Sean said check your cables. I'm having to replace my ground strap about every 5 years due to excess corrosion. The copper goes green fast...

I will keep those cables clean thanks
