871 SOS speed selector assembly

My 1959 SOS has been sitting out for at least 12 years and the speed selector assembly is ruined. I'm looking for a used unit
to replace it. In about 2005, while bush-hogging a field the tractor caught fire after refueling. Since that event it has been
out in the Arizona weather. While recently working to bring it back to life the Speed Selector Assembly could not be
disassembled due to corroded screws and the large steel nut corroded on the aluminum sector shaft. I could possibly cut the
nut off the shaft to get the assembly apart, but not sure it is a standard nut (for reassembly). I'm assuming Ford used the
same assembly on all SOS units? Anyone have an assembly available for sale? Thanks.

My pal Kenny has one off a 4400.
The guys here should know if they are the same.
Maybe they can also help us with what is a fair price for it.

Not much help on value but I do know that the shifter housings are different for the 64 and older tractors compared to the 65 and later tractors. Some of the internal components are the same tho but there were several different lengths for the cables. I would keep trying some good penetrating oil on the nut on the shaft and maybe some heat to the nut but be careful with the heat as there is some aluminum parts close by that will melt easily.

Thanks Ultradog, I will check it out when I get some time (next month). The unit in your photo looks somewhat different than mine (longer shift lever and different housing shape) but I don't have time to compare them right now. There is another comment that the assembly changed in '65. I don't know the years of the 4400, but I will look into it.

There is a chapter in the I&T FO-20 Service Manual on the SOS... I can send you the chapter if you want ...my email is open.

Yes, please send me the chapter dealing with the SOS. I have the Ford manual, and it goes into the transmission in detail, but doesn't help much with the control assembly. It doesn't even tell how to disconnect the cable from the control assessbly. I assume you have to get the control assembly apart to disconnect the cable, but I can't get the control assembly apart because the big nut is corroded to the aluminum cross shaft. Any help will be appreciated.
