Ford 841 Power Steering Pump

Hello, I'm a new owner of a Ford tractor, was told it was a 1954 Jubilee but nothing is adding up to verify that. Anyway I'm searching for a power steering pump. Any help would be great. Thanks[/img:740c70f2d5]
 
Lots going on here -

1954 would be an NAA, similar model in 1953 was designated 'Jubilee'.

To my knowledge power steering was not available on either.

An '841' would possibly have power steering (as an option or retrofit).

To get any help on this we need the numbers stamped on casting behind the starter. A Jubilee or NAA will have the numbers on the vertical surface, a later model will have the numbers on the horizontal surface.

can make now are to get the ESSENTIAL MANUALS. You need an OEM or copy of the 600/800 Owner/Operator's Manual; a copy of the I&T FO-20 Manual; and a copy of the 53-59
MPC (Master Parts Catalog) to start with. The NAA, made for two years, 53-54, Jubilee was only a designated for the '53 model to commemorate 50 years of FoMoCo in
business. NAA was first released in SEP, 1952 as the new 1953 Model. Newest design was the 134 CID OHV Red Tiger Engine. Gone was the FORD Flat Head engines forever
after. The 600 and 800 came out in '54. The 600 was basically a modified NAA with the 134 OHV engine. The 800 Series introduced the 172 CID OHV Red Tiger Engine. Here
is some info on serial number ID'g and the manuals you need to get and read religiously. Don't start buying any new parts. You'll need to know a lot B4 you turn that
key. For one important feature, is the system OEM 6V/POS GRN or has it been switched to 12V? It matters.

The serial numbers on the first 22,238 NAA models were stamped on the left front
of the engine block just below the head as shown in the photo below.

[Howdy, I believe the power steering was added when a 703 loader was mounted onto the tractor. I have #'s that are located on the flat behind the started 841 then below that the serial # which is
122007
 
Hello, I was told it's a NAA 1954, the #'s I've found are on the flat behind the starter, they are 841, then under that the serial # which is 122007
 
That would be a 1960 model 841. My parts
book shows C3NN3A674C as the power
steering pump and notes that it replaces
CONN3A674H. A good place to start looking
is the 841 steering parts page on this web
site, link below. Also search the web for
those part numbers and see if the pump
matches yours.

Hi Andy, that's a far cry from the previous owner believing it is a 1954 NAA. The pumps shown on that page look nothing like the canister style which is on it. I'm guessing over the years and multiple owners the pump was swapped out for something that would function but not the correct part. So I have a couple options, replace the shaft bearing on the present pump for under $20.00 bucks or spend almost as much as I paid for the tractor for the correct pump. Think I'll start with a bearing and go from there. This is not a restoration project by any means, just a tractor to push back snow banks and other jobs around my property. Thanks for the help, Tom
 
They used two different power steering pumps in different years in the 801 series. They only used the one with the integrated reservoir for a short time and then switched to the one with the reservoir on top of the pump body. Here is a link to the parts drawing of the pump with the integrated reservoir, which I believe is what you are calling the "canister style" pump:

Hi Sean, the link you sent hit on the money! I ordered the oil seal for the shaft for under $24.00 way better than the cost of a new pump. I spent most of my vacation working on this tractor and needed a break from it, just back from camping. 38 degrees Friday night here in NH, brrrr it's coming. Again thank you for the help and sorry for delay getting back.

Not sure why you keep saying that. You can add pics directly to your post, and upload to this site.

When your composing a message (at least in modern view), all you have to do to post a picture is scroll down the window to below where you are typing and choose "Browse" under Upload Photos / Videos. After clicking that button, a window will open showing you all the folders on your computer. Just navigate to the folder where the picture you want to post is, select the picture and click open. You're done.

Hello again, I got the oil seal I need for this pump, that's cool. The next hurdle is finding the pulley for this. That part is no longer available thru that company. it's just a pulley but boy what a chore finding one. it's 4" across, has a 5/8 bore and a 1/8" keyway 1/2" belt size. The problem I'm running into is the keyway slot, seems most these days are 3/16" keyway. any ideas where I can get my hands on a pulley with the dimensions I described (cheap) lol. Do they make woodruff keys that are 1/8" for shaft slot and 3/16 top that would fit into the pulley key slot?
