I bought this 641 earlier this summer from a friend that had owned it for 13-14 years, he quit using it 3 years ago when he bought a new Kubota. He had removed the tank to clean it then lost interest in I guess. Well Ive cleaned the the tank and reinstalled it with all new fuel lines and a new filter. This roosamaster injection pump is new to me as my other Fords are easy to bleed the air out of the system when I change filters by using the pump lever to bleed the air out. What can yall tell me about bleeding the air out of this roosa master to get it up and running, my friend said all he ever did when changing fuel filters in the past was to just bleed the filter and it would crank, no such luck for me.

I've had way too much experience with that fuel pump lately. First thing is to make sure there is fuel getting to the pump. Pull the line and watch it run. Then move on to the pump. if working correctly, crack the injectors and fuel will flow from them before you need to start cranking.

If it won't crank it can't prime. You have a starter or battery or cable problem if it wont crank.

Oh it cranks over just fine, will not start and run if thats what you are implying. We southerners use the word wont crank meaning it wont run. Got a bunch of folks wanting it just by mentioning it to a couple of folks over the weekend, would really like to get it up and running as I know it would easily fetch $2500 or more if running. But working long hours and only time to fool with it on the weekends I may just send it down the road to a new home since I only bought it for the new tennis shoes its wearing.

Changed to a different brand filter this morning that has multiple holes in the bottom, still no crank. Problem must be in the pump. I bought this tractor for a $1000 with all new rubber on It just to get the tires to swap over to my 601 Ford. If anybody is in south Alabama area that wants it for what I paid then contact me but I am swapping the wheels and tires over to my 601 , the tires Im putting back on this 641 hold air and are decent. Im not familiar with this pump and have not found any information on tearing in to it to see just what the problem is, Ill post some pics of the tractor if any one is interested, fenders and hood are in great shape, too many tractors and not enough storage space prohibits keeping it

Drilling the filter is a GOOD way to wreck the injection pump..

Those filters allow fuel to enter around the outside edge. Don't drill it.

I would try to find the correct filter rather than drilling holes in an incorrect one. It might result in plenty of flow, but possibly no filtration at all, and possibly worse, the shavings from your drilling might clog up the injection pump and injectors.

Check your fuel filter a friend of mine bought one at an auto parts store it was manufactured incorrectly and would not allow fuel to flow through it

Greg Im glad you brought that to my attention, the filter I put on has no holes in the bottom of it, not a single one. Years ago I put two on my my 5000 Ford that didnt have holes and never could get it cranked so I drilled multiple holes in bottom of those filters and the 5000 cranked up so I bet thats my problem. Ill drill holes in the bottom of the filter tomorrow and report back, bet thats my problem

It's been many years since I had mine apart but I do remember the round top came off and the large round cylinder part came off to expose the cam and individual cylinders that force the fuel into the injector lines. Plan on replacing the large diameter O rings.

You can loosen the lines at the injectors then crank to see if you get fuel coming from those injector lines.

I saw a YouTube video last night where a guy had trouble with his Ford 861 that has the same pump, he of course removed the Rossa Master entirely in the video, when I have time to piddle on it I know what to look for now but theres no need in removing the pump from the tractor to check the rod that I believe may be the problem, I plan on removing the cover on left side of the pump to check the rod or piston to see if its stuck and can do so with pump still mounted on tractor

Pulled cover off left side of pump and watched everything move while actuating the throttle lever, put cover back on and still no fuel pumping through the pump, any and all help on the issue would be greatly appreciated. I dont have a parts diagram of this pump to know what im looking at and never worked on a Roosa Master pump

years back I bought a non running diesel with a Rooosamaster pump. The problem turned out to be the small pistons inside the pump were stuck in the out position, therefore not recharging with fuel before the next stroke. Took it apart, freed up the pistons and shined them up and put it back together. Fired right up with no air bleeding necessary.

If it sat for 3 years, the fuel valve may be stuck in the off position even with your throttle lever pulled down to on.
