shifter knob - ford 600

I have a Ford 600 that I've been putting back together. I bought a new shifter knob for the 4 speed trans shift lever and the knob is a 3/8 fine thread. The threads on the shift lever shaft are a 5/16 fine thread. Has anyone experienced this? I looked on line at other places, including YTMAG store, and they are referencing a 3/8 fine thread too. A heli-coil would maybe solve this issue but I'd need the knob to be a 7/16 inch thread and the heli-coils at my local hardware are coarse thread.

I'm hoping that I can find the correct knob?

thanks in advance, moday

Two different shift levers were used, early, then replaced with a new part number. One used 5/16-24, the other 3/8-24. Look at the linked catalog, 4-speed transmission, case and related parts. Item 40, 81804882 for 5/16-24, and 83905584 for 3/8-24.
