5200 SOS shift cable pictures

Probably won't get around to working on the 5200, or even reading through the SOS section of the manual, before next weekend, but here are a few pictures of the cable. The end looks broken to me, but I haven't worked on these before. Also maybe an old repair?

With that much sticking out of trans in park it has been broken. Should be hook together piece on both ends.

The "cylindrical" looking part looks to me like someone brazed the upper and lower cables together whee they are supposed to "hook" together.

Looking at NH's parts site, the upper should be 19, and the lower 13. But I'm still not sure what the ends are supposed to look like.
The bottom picture is several inches from the end of the upper cable. That's the part I thought had been brazed. Maybe the end has been, too?
