1974 Ford 2000 Firing problem

I have a 1974 ford 2000 3 cylinder tractor that ran last year but it did misfire some. When attempting to start it this year it wouldn't fire to the plugs or ignition coil at all. I put a spark test light on the plugs and wires and it did not show any spark. When I put a circuit test light on the ignition coil and turned the key the test light wouldn't light up and it did not show any voltage with a meter. So I assume the problem is somewhere in the power going to the ignition coil from the battery. I have been having to cross over the starter solenoid to get it to crank even when it was running but now am wondering if this could be part of the issue causing no power to reach the ignition coil. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might have a poor connection on the battery side of the solenoid. One way to check things a bit more is to run a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil. Then try to start it. If it starts the problem is from the battery to the coil some place
