850 power steering

I think I got my control figured out and it is back on. When I start the tractor and the cylinder ends are unhooked at the front tie rod the cylinders don't move until I am at the stops both ways. They move the correct directions just no movement until it is at full left or full right. Do I have my control valve adjusted to loose or to tight? Or, something else entirely. The shop manual troubleshooting does not really discuss the problem I am having. Thanks

Sounds like the large nut above the control valve in the steering column wasn't installed correctly and the up-and-down play in the control valve is incorrect.
