1982 Ford 1310 Hydraulic Fluid blows into crankcase on f

getaway

New User
Hi. I inherited my dads 1310 with 300 hours. When the 3-point lift is full up it blows hydraulic fluid into the motor crankcase fast then overflows out the top valve cover vent. Can anyone advise on the likely problem or help? Thanks!! Ben

There is an adjustment on the three point hitch to prevent it from going into bypass when the handle is pulled all the way up. It must have blown the seal out of the hydraulic pump from running in bypass. The pump will need to be repaired and the link on the lift arm adjusted to prevent further damage.

Hi Mark! Thank you for replying to this new, old tractor owner. I was thinking that the pump was lubricated by the motor oil and was the only way to blow hydraulic fluid through into the motor.

What is the name of the adjustment on the 3-point hitch? I just downloaded what seems to be a good repair manual from Jensales. Is there a bad protection device like a bypass valve or only an adjustment. I can't see my dad adjusting that but who knows...

I really appreciate your help.

Ben

The adjustable link is attached too the right lift arm on the hydraulic cover. You lengthen the link enough so it will put the valve in neutral before the arms get to full height and goes into bypass. The pump is driven by the engine gears and when the seal blows out it will dump hydraulic oil into the engine.

Thanks again Mike. I'll be pulling the pump and expect I will need a rebuild or seal kit. Do you have a recommendation on where to get one. I've been searching and can't find a kit that is specific to the model 1310.

Hi my name is Jeremy,
I'm having the same issue, could you tell me how you got this resolved? Did you have to rebuild the pump? We're you able to adjust the lift arms.
