Ford 3000 PTO

This was originally my fathers tractor and hadnt run in several
years, after getting it finally running again I realized why it was
parked, he always said the PTO was dead and I wasnt quite
sure what he meant, the PTO starts to spin, spins for about half
a second and then stops spinning. Any ideas?
 
Which transmission and PTO options does it have? There were several combinations available. Very early ones could have had a 4 speed with non-live PTO, then there were the 6 and 8 speed transmissions that could have had live or non-live PTO, and then there was the Select-O-Speed transmission which had independent PTO.
 
Oh god I have no idea its a 1969 with the 8 speed no idea about
the PTO although I have a unit number of the tractor if that
helps.

Has live pto. Either pto disc has hub broken from shredder or has shucked lining. Going to require split to know for shure.
