Ford 641 No Spark

My 641 has not run in maybe 5 years. I replaced the battery to get it going and have no spark. I cleaned the connections at the coil, distributor, and generator without success. Any hints on where to look next? It is 6 volt.

While you're doing what Old said, also check the inside of the distributor cap for moisture and or corrosion.

Thanks. I put new points and condenser in and have an intermittent spark. I thought the post that goes through the side of the distributor was the problem (continuity between distributor body and post when tightened) but then found that the hot side of the coil has continuity with the distributor body as well. ??? This happened the last time it sat for a long time and somebody came over and fixed it quickly. They are no longer available.

Remove the wire from the points as in disconnect the points and then check to see if the insulator is grounded out. I have an 841S that the insulator grounded out on it years ago so it now has a wire going to the points. Or the new condenser could be bad which is common now days

I had the same issue with mine, multiple new sets of points, condensers, coils, caps, rotors and wires, intermittent, ended up replacing with a pertronix, fired right up no issues since.

"but then found that the hot side of the coil has continuity with the distributor body as well. ??? " Fooling yourself with "continuity" checking. Internal to the coil, all three terminals are wired together! Closed points tie coil to distr body (ground).
