Got the 5610 in with the weird double column shifting trans, (one inside the other)... the shuttle/range lever works as expected. However the gear lever in the rear position has gears one and two, in the forward position it drops down and just locks there, no forwards and backwards for the other two gears. AND,,, per the shift diagram, it appears that gears one and two SHOULD be in the forward position not the back position. (assumption by me as the gears in the rear position are very very very low) Questions... Can the shifter be clocked wrong?? Any ideals?? What kind of mess would I get into by pulling the top cover??? Always worried about the first time I took an alarm clock apart the springs went everywhere.... The ford service manual pictures dont clearly show how the internal parts clock, sync and work.
