I am currently restoring a 1961 Ford Powermaster 871 Select-O-Speed tractor; Serial# 142943. It belonged to my father who had been converting it from a 6 volt to a 12 volt system before he passed away a few years ago. With some additional changes the conversion is complete, and the tractor is sitting on blocks. The issue now is, whenever the engine is running and the shift lever is in Park, the wheels are moving slowly. Whenever the shift lever is moved to Neutral, the engine stalls when the inching pedal is released. Is this an indication that the shift lever cables or linkages are misaligned? I don't remember my father having any problems with the transmission and don't think he would have changed anything in the selector.
