3000 leaky - under right foot board

Hi guys, i'm new to the Ford section. Hoping to find help as I'm not too familiar with these machines. We just bought this one - based on all the good reviews here at YT.
When hauling it, I noticed a puddle under the rear. I traced it to something under the right foot brake pedal area. Here's pictures where it seems to be coming from:

It's a clear fluid, oily. Dripping quite regularly (puddle during 2hr ride on trailer)
This area was really dirty, I assume grit sticking to the leaky fluid.

Also wondering - what is this thingy?

The elbow has oring on end that goes in case and one for tube. The oil will have to drained and pedals moved out of the way. The part that is circled is flow control valve, leave as is because no one uses
them. It was designed for controling speed of lift in small increments.

That leak is at a fitting for one of the hydraulic lines that go up to the hydraulic pump for the 3 point hydraulics. It looks like the suction line from the limited view in your picture. If it is the suction line, then there is only an o-ring with a friction fit that keeps it from leaking. Farther forward on that line should be a clamp holding both lines in place. Remove that clamp and the suction line should be able to move enough for you to pull that end out of the fitting and replace the o-ring.

That thing in your last picture is the flow control valve. Screw it in clockwise for faster flow for the 3 point lift and unscrew it counter-clockwise to slow down the flow.

Thanks Sean.
The 3pt lift isn't working well. It drops down as soon as tractor is turned off. And the response is slow when I move the lever.
I'll try it today pulling out the hose and replacing the o-ring.

Say what? If the 3-point drops slowly after the engine is shut off, that may be normal for an older tractor, but not if it drops quickly. I have a 6000 that will hold up a rotary cutter overnight and not drop so much as an inch.

I have 2 Ford 3000's. The 3pt will stay up a very long time just sitting. If I have and implement on it, it also stays up for very long time. If it is in good repair it won't go down right away.

My 4000 holds my 7' tiller up until I let it down.

Sounds like I have to check into this more.
I didn't have time yesterday to get into the O-ring. Hoping this weekend to do so.

Also - is the power steering system connected to this hyrdaulic? I'm noticing a whine sound, when turning the steering wheel like it's low on fluid.

The power steering is separate
from hydraulics. It's on the left
side as you're sitting in the
seat. Up towards the radiator on
the side of the engine. It's
round and we'll have a cap on it.
It should have fluid in it about
1-in lower than the cap. Also
there's a paper filter in there
that is usually junk if it hasn't
been changed in a while. It's
very easy to change.
